Fall in love with a "Sniffari" today...an adventure led by their nose allowing your dog to lead the way, decompress, and be mindful.

Spring Has Sprung...
It's hard to believe Summer is just around the corner! The birds are chirping and the bees are buzzing. Spring is a time for new beginnings, rejuvenation, and changes in routines. We are always working on making our sniffaris even more fun at "Take Your Sniffs Dog Walking"! Currently, we are sprinkling in training support including cues like "Wait", "Leave It", "Sit", "Down", and "Matwork". Connection with each and every client's dog is always at the heart of our business because this lays a foundation of trust, fun, and a positive association with training. For most of my client's dogs with big feelings and/or reactivity this looks like more nose work, enrichment games, training challenges, management of environment, and teaching "calm" So, we break our sniffaris into enrichment, training support & fun! Below are three areas we focus on taking into consideration your dog's breed, temperament, age and activity level. A "Sniffaris" is not just a cute name for a walk. It is a fun dog-led exploratory walk which allows choice in direction, freedom to move at your dog's pace, and maximum smelling opportunities. This style of dog walk provides significantly more mental stimulation, can reduce stress and/or anxiety, and is more of a decompression walk than a fast paced walk.

Exercise Mind & Body...
It is so important to do enrichment games for all dogs! Movement and engaging their brain tires them out. On our sniffaris you will usually observe we do custom "busy boxes" and fun brain games. This kind of enrichment can reduce anxiety, redirect unwanted behaviour, and is just a whole lot of fun!

Be Mindful and Sniff It...
I always like to reserve part of the walk for exploration, spontaneity, and adventure. This can include games at a playground, hiding treats in trees, nose work "find it" activities. It may look like a simple walk, but a lot of thought and passion goes into it.

Positive Training Support...
I am currently studying and doing a mentorship under Lisa Davies at Pawsitivelyy Canine, a very experienced dog behaviourist of decades. The skills learned with Lisa are a game changer for working with reactivity and improving various types of training. This not only includes the basics("wait", "sit", "stay", and "down"), but most importantly we use positive reinforcement methods such as clicker training and management of environment to manage reactions.

Alternatively, to booking online most clients prefer to have a regular walking day. So, I ask that you have your request in every Friday by noon for the following week. As we get busier bookings are confirmed by reserving a package and are first booked first served. If a walk if booked and there is not 24 hours notice then the drop-in fees apply.

Get to Know Us
After almost ten years of owning an Irish Wolfhound, Celene, the founder of "Take Your Sniffs Dog Walking" discovered the importance of "sniffari" style walks. Dogs that live in the city are exposed to a lot more noise and stress and need enriched long leash walks to decompress. This style of dog walking is different in that you are tuning in to what direction your dog prefers and when they want to stop and smell the roses. It is not about getting the walk done, but about taking the walk sniff by sniff. The "sniffari" walk is mostly directed by the dog and should be leisurely and at the dog's pace. Celene is a positive reinforcement certified dog walker, and mentors under a dog behaviourist, Lisa Davies at Pawsitevely Canine. She has Pet First Aid and is licensed, insured and bonded. She is truly passionate about all things dog most notably behaviour, exercise and nutrition. Starting a dog walking business is something Celene has been wanting to do for a very long time. She feels it is important to educate clients about creating outlets for dogs that have anxiety with enrichment, consistency and building a mutual relationship with your dog. As a result we only do drop-in bookings in the first month with all clients. This enables Celene more time to build rapport with her client's dogs on a regular basis. We do walk 2-dog households, but each dog is taken out individually to focus on their needs. Weekends and holidays will be considered on a case by case basis. There is a $20 surcharge for all weekends and statutory holidays.

"Celene takes care of my beloved dog like he's her own! She talks to him kindly, sends me cute videos and pictures of his walks with her. It's nice to have someone I can trust who shows him love and attention during those longer days at work."
Karen
"Celene, you are amazing! I love how you do breed research and ask a lot of questions so the walk is totally unique for my boy!"
